Flex Mill: corn and sugar integration to produce ethanol in the state of São Paulo

Abstract

Since the 1970s, with the added difficulties shocks of the petroleum, the world began the search for renewable sources of energy. After many researches and programs, today we faced a "strong" supply and national and international expectation for the ethanol. In the scenery of the biofuels, Brazil is configured as one of the most competitive countries of the world. In agreement with the UNICA(2007), the state of São Paulo is the principal responsible for that competitiveness, once it represents about 60% of the national production and concentrates about 160 plants and 11,86 million acres on planted area. Although the sugar-cane, in energy terms, check egg whites competitive advantages in the production of the alcohol in comparison with other cultures, for possessing seasonal offer it spares the capacity of the plants in your pre-harvest, allowing an idleness of 3 to 4 months a year the those units of production. Before this scenery, the present project tries to evaluate the introduction of the corn in the productive process of the ethanol in the state of São Paulo, in order to use the idle period of the plants in the pre-harvest of the cane, with the objective of fomenting to crescent disputes for the biofuels and to increase the readiness of the corn as human food and component food residual for animal ration. For so much, a rising of primary and secondary data will be accomplished in relationship the inherent variables to the project between April of 2004 and April of 2009. For instrumental analytic will be used the correlation and the regression that will give the base for construct a model of economical evaluation and for the calculation of the relative production factor to the use of the both of products, starting from which it will be possible to infer about the viability structural, productive and economical of the introduction of the corn in the ethanol production in order to use the idle capacity of the plants of the referred state.
