Due to the historical use and occupation of the country, which has its effectiveness preferably within the limits of coastal zones are areas of morphological and areas of specific ecosystems that indicate varying degrees of weakness, there is long-standing commitment to stability environmental systems that make up the coastal zone due to the usage model that largely ignores the dynamics of such systems environment. Is observed in recent decades on the national scene a considerable increase in production by increasing the use of urban coastal areas reversing the landscape. The metropolitan area of Santos in Sao Paulo is an example of the rampant use of which takes the bulk from the 1950s, despite having his early occupation about 500 years. Following the proposal of this project will study the area of occurrence and occupation of mangroves of Santos in Sao Paulo. Since this is an area that has a fragile natural and to be of great importance to the local biome, as it is in a transition area that receives both maritime and continental influence, the study and analysis of operation, locations of the areas mangroves in all of Santos and correlation with the expansion of use will allow a discussion to consider the direction of the front use the need for conservation of mangrove systems and can provide planning contributions. The work is founded on the perspective of general systems theory, widely discussed in the Geographical Sciences. Objective as material synthesis, production specific bibliographic scientific and technical text.
