Abstract

Infiltrating lymphocytes and immature dendritic cells are usually found in well differentiated tumors like the papillary thyroid carcinoma. IL-10 cytokine controls the resolution of inflammation mainly regulating lymphocyte activation, dendritic cells and macrophages. IL-10 1082G allele produces more IL-10 than IL-10 1082A alelle. Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a proinflammatory cytokine. Its promoter site has a polymorphism (+105A/C) whose function is still not clear but may be associated to immune response against cancer. The aim of this research is to investigate the influence of these polymorphisms on both the susceptibility and the outcome of well differenciated thyroid carcinomas.
