Abstract

The objective of this project is to implement a transmission line model to simulate electromagnetic transients directly in time domain without to use convolution integrals. The proposed model is a lumped parameters model where the line is represented as being a cascade of PI circuits and the currents and voltages in each PI circuit correspond to currents and voltages in a small line segment. Initially it will be done the frequency domain analysis of the model with the objective to define its performance taking into account the length line and the quantity of the PI circuits of the cascade. After that, the currents and voltages along de cascade will be written directly in time domain by using state space techniques. The model will be used to simulate electromagnetic transients, resulting from switching operations, in a single phase line.
