In this work, aspects of the steel, the concrete and the interaction between them will be studied, with particular interest in the phenomenon of slip that occurs in the interface between these two materials.Emphasis is given for the nonlinear numerical analysis of plane frames of reinforced concrete submitted to the cyclical action.A computational model will be developed using the finite element method to foresee the behavior of such frames based upon the properties of the concrete, the steel, and in the relationship between steel and concrete.The concept of uniaxial equivalent tension-deformation will be used to describe the nonlinear behavior of the reinforced concrete, which incorporates the phenomenon deformation-softening, for limits above the maximum compressive strength of the concrete, and the cracking for traction, for limits above the maximum tensile strenght of the concrete.The bond will be modeled with the interface element (bond zone element), which connects the steel element with the concrete element. The stiffness of this element is based on the stages of the relation between the local bond stress and the relative displacement between the steel bars and the concrete, being used polynomial and polygon curves to trace this behavior.The simulation of the cyclical variation of the stresses will follow the model presented by Said and others [41], because it presented very good results compared with experimental tests.Finally, the results found with the program, will be analyzed and compared with theoretical and experimental results gotten in the literature, to validate the proposed approach.
