Abstract

Great ratio of the water candy meets harmed very in result to the increasing pollution that could be minimized by the magnifying of programs of investments in sanitation. The great problem faced for the countries of the third world and for those in development, how much to this aspect, it is the high cost of the projects and its implantations, involving bigger indebtedness and reshuffling of resources of other sectors, also considered essential and with priority, as the health and education. In an attempt to find a technology simple, efficient and low cost, we opted to check the efficiency of use of constructed wetland systems (CWS), top-down, for removal of bacteria and nutrients from effluent from poultry processing industry. Previous assays for definition of the outflow and the continuous flow in the CWS in laboratory scale will be carried through, with prototypes. With objective to evaluate the efficiency of use of CWS, the parameters are analyzed: temperature of the effluent and the environment, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, chemical demand of oxygen (COD), sulfide, sulfate, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total coliforms and Escherichia coli and toxicity. The methodology for determination of microorganisms is the substrate defined chromium fluorineogenic (colilert-INDEXX/USA) and other second APHA (1998). Some prototypes are with rice and vegetables have yet prerecords or pebbles, soil mixed with vermiculite. It is intended that the sewage system can be reused or be released in aquatic ecosystems without promoting artificial eutrophication. (AU)
