Abstract

Among the insects of the family Aphididae, notably those of the genus Aphis, which Aphis gossypii (Glover, 1877), known as the cotton aphid, has been recognized as an important pest of the crop. Studies of the biology allow people to get basic information for use in strategies to control insect pests. This project aims to study the biology of the aphid A. gossypii at constant temperatures of 17, 21, 25 and 29 ± 2 º C, 70 ± 10% RH and 12 hours photophase in colored cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L., BRS Sapphire, to be determined: a) Time development of the different instar, b) Temperature requirements, c) Patterns of fertility and longevity e d) Life tables of fertility.
