Abstract

The problem of bacterial resistance has been increasing in the last decades andit is becoming in a challenge for microbiologist, public health organizations andpharmaceutical industries. Thus, the scientific community inserted in the planning anddevelopment of new drugs, has been searching an antimicrobial similar with betterbioavailability, higher intrinsic activity and lesser toxicity that have action against theantibiotic-resistant characteristic. The development progress of antibiotics with broadspectrumis increasing and, allying with your abusive and inadequate use, it result in anemergency of these antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. Among these microorganismsthere is Staphylococcus spp genera, that is a Gram-positive bacteria and have beendeveloping in the last decades the multi-drug resistant phenotype against the severalantibiotics. Thus, this research project intends to give continuity to the planningprogram, synthesis and evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of nifuroxazideanalogues compounds, more specifically 5(6)-benzofuroxans derivatives in order toestablish properties physical-chemistries that influence in the biological activity of thesecompounds in front of Staphylococcus aureus standard and multi-drug resistant strains.
