In developing countries, it´s quite common the discharge of raw sewage and industrial effluents into the water bodies, causing pollution and risks to the aquatic ecosystems. The metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, specifically, presents a situation of water quality scarcity. In this scenario the drinking water consumption in the house (in habitation in general) is used many situations tat do not requires high water quality standards, so the reclaimed water could be a option to be supplied for those purposes, reducing as a consequence, the demand for potable water. This study has the main objective to implement and to monitoring two units of constructed wetlands for the post-treatment of wastewater treatment plant of the EACH/USP Campus. The level of treatment will be checked through the BOD and COD removals, nutrients (P and N), solids and fecal coliforms, comparing the performance of the two units. The second objective is to provide an assessment of treated effluent for further reuse. (AU)
