The role of octahedral network by varying the perovskite dimensionality: impacts on the electronic structure and optical properties.

Abstract

The well-known tunable properties in ABX3 perovskite semiconductor system have gained much attention by the scientific community providing a wide range of applications. By dimensionality control, an energy landscape might be achieved by the quantum confinement. Such properties are closely related to how the inorganic octahedra layer are arranged in the structural conformation, which rise the physical phenomena. In this perspective, this work will dedicate to understand the fundamental structural, electronic and optical properties by dimensional manipulation. It is intended to investigate band gap, electronic states and stability under light and moisture conditions. For this, it will be exploited the hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite (3D, 1D and 0D) and two-dimensionally arranged perovskites from Ruddsdlen-Popper family. With the understanding of the role of quantum confinement and the impact on physical properties will be brought forward for optoelectronic applications.
