Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance has been considered one of the major threats to human health in this century. As a result, many efforts have been directed towards seeking technological solutions in the health sector to combat this phenomenon, such as innovations in the development of new antibiotics, the use of artificial intelligence for antibiotic prescription, and the development of rapid and accurate diagnostic technologies. However, it is noticeable that many researchers who develop these technological solutions lack the know-how to undertake new business ventures. In this context, the present research aims to address the following question: How can researchers developing innovative solutions in the health sector overcome the challenges of entrepreneurship and create new businesses from the solutions developed? Thus, the aim of this research is to understand how health professionals can engage in entrepreneurship by transforming the developed technological solutions into new market products and, consequently, creating new business ventures such as Startups. This study is justified not only by being a global health problem but also by the emerging market opportunity. Therefore, identifying business opportunities for innovative technological solutions can have a positive impact on the fight against antimicrobial resistance, as it attracts more investment for its research, while also offering potential entrepreneurship opportunities for health researchers, positively impacting the market as well.
