Abstract

Between the late 2nd and early 3rd centuries B.C. (Severan period), Sicily, particularly in the western region, experienced a phase of exceptional prosperity. This was especially evident in cities such as Lilybaeum and Agrigento, which became Roman coloniae. A group of capitals of unknown origin (disiecta membra), still unpublished, is preserved in the 'Paolo Orsi' Regional Archaeological Museum. These will be the subject of a study employing new technologies to gather as much data as possible regarding the buildings from which they originated and the Severan monuments of Syracuse.
