Abstract

Micronutrients are important elements required by plants in small quantities. The most common micronutrients required by plants are iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), nikel (Ni), cobalt (Co) and copper (Cu). Cobalt as a micronutrient is essential for leguminous plants as beings well as human; it is a component of vitamin B12 and is involved in the fixation of N2 in the root nodules of legumes. This study aim to produce nanostructured gels based on tripodal amineterminated polyoxypropylene PPO and bisepoxide to assess the slow/controlled release of cobalt. This polymeric system may be a solution for some problems as micronutrients lost by leaching, which leads to high dosage requirements, serious environmental problems and economic costs.
