Abstract

Pre-Columbian domestic areas play a significant role in providing information about the lives and societies of indigenous populations, serving as witnesses to cultural, technological, social systems, and human-environmental interaction aspects. This research project focuses on investigating a possible housing unit associated with the Jatuarana ceramic subtradition at the Teotônio archaeological site, located in the Southwest Amazon. Through archaeobotanical microremains analysis, the goal is to identify the construction methods of these dwellings and comprehend the dynamics of the relationship between people and the surrounding environment. By integrating this data with the ethnohistorical survey of indigenous house constructions in the Amazon, the research seeks not only to identify the plants used but also to establish correlations with the archaeobotanical material to be identified. The combination of Archaeology with the subdiscipline of Archaeobotany aims to contribute to the reconstruction of the history of ceramic-producing peoples of the Jatuarana subtradition (1,300-400 cal. years BP), deepening the understanding of cultural practices, ways of life, social organization, among other aspects.
