Abstract

The fear of death is part of human existence and is intrinsic to the history and development of humanity, playing a fundamental role in human activity. This research, which consists of a theoretical study in psychoanalysis, has the general objective of understanding anxiety in the face of death in the light of Freudian psychoanalytic theory. To this end, it will initially investigate how the fear of death is inscribed in Freud's second theory of anxiety, and then analyze how religion and science are conceived as social institutions that aim to suppress this fear.
