Abstract

The detailed study of mafic mineral phases in igneous rocks, involving physical and chemical aspects, has been very important for understanding petrological processes and estimating intensive parameters such as temperature, pressure, oxygen fugacity and silica activity of different magmatic types. The study mainly involves petrographic characterization, mineral chemistry analyzes using techniques such as electron microprobe and laser ablation-ICP-MS on mafic minerals from alkaline-tending cumulate rocks, especially clinopyroxene. Focus will be given especially to one of the intrusions of the collection that has sampling control. From the data obtained, integration with previous data will allow for detailed discussions of petrological processes related to magma chamber dynamics.
