Abstract

The development of bioactive materials aims for the greatest possible release of ions. Reducing the viscosity of the resin matrix may enable the incorporation of greater fractions of calcium-releasing particles. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the effect of the BisGMA:TEGDMA ratio and the volumetric fraction of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) incorporated on the physicochemical properties of the composites and the release of calcium ions. Resin matrices will be manipulated in BisGMA:TEGDMA molar ratios of 1:1, 3:7 and 1:9. DCPD particles (3 µm) will be added to each of the matrices in proportions of 40%, 50%, 60% and 70% by volume. The materials will be evaluated after 24 hours regarding the degree of conversion (FTIR spectroscopy, n=5), sorption and solubility (ISO 4049), fracture resistance and flexural modulus (biaxial bending test, n=10). The release of calcium ions over 28 days of immersion in deionized water will be analyzed using optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (n=3). Data will be analyzed using ANOVA/Tukey test (alpha: 0.05).
