Abstract

Fuel cells based on anion exchange membrane (AEMFCs) are emerging as a promising technology for clean and efficient energy generation. To achieve their full potential, it is crucial to overcome challenges related to the stability and durability of anion exchange membranes (AEMs). A new category of AEM has recently been proposed through the project to which this proposal is linked: asymmetric membranes, which exhibit distinct properties on each face and gradients throughout their thickness. These membranes have the potential to surpass current limitations and drive the use of AEMFCs. Developing this technology requires a detailed understanding and manipulation of the gradients of functionalized ionomers across the membrane. The aim of this project is to develop a methodology for characterizing these asymmetric AEMs, utilizing advanced techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, AFM, and TERS. This methodology aims to provide an effective tool for the development and optimization of asymmetric membranes, contributing to significant advancements in fuel cell technology. (AU)
