Abstract In this PhD project, the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) technique with ultra-wide bandwidth (1 to 40 meV) will be employed to obtain the spectral dependence of the complex optical conductivity (real and imaginary parts) of advanced materials in both steady-state and transient regimes (pump-probe). Strongly correlated materials (superconductors, heavy-fermions, topological insulators) and conventional semiconductor systems (bulk or nanowires) with potential applications in electronics and optoelectronics will be explored. The main objective of this project is to establish ultra-wide bandwidth THz-TDS spectroscopy as an additional tool in the study of unconventional properties of systems with high electronic correlation and transport mechanisms in semiconductor systems. The student will investigate how the spectral dependence of complex optical conductivity in the THz region can be used to obtain important parameters for describing the underlying electronic dynamics of the properties in the investigated systems. | |
