Abstract

This project aims to expand the scope of research at the Center for Genomics Applied to Climate Change (GCCRC) through innovative multimedia content. Under the leadership of Davi Alves Feitosa de Souza Souza and Gustavo Hikaru Machi Matsumine, three products (podcasts, videos/reels for social media, video reports, or written reports) will be created to disseminate, in an accessible and engaging manner for the public, the technological solutions in smart farming from GCCRC's scientific advancements. GCCRC, a Research Center in Engineering funded by FAPESP, is a collaboration between Embrapa and Unicamp to develop biotechnological solutions that enhance crop resilience to droughts intensified by climate change. Using advanced techniques in gene discovery, bioinformatics, microbiome analysis, and genetic editing, together with greenhouse technology, environmental control, sensing, and LED lighting, the Center seeks to develop sustainable agricultural innovations in the current scenario posed by climate change. With a multidisciplinary team of 34 members, GCCRC fosters a dynamic and collaborative research environment. This journalistic research project will be developed in five phases: online training in multimedia production, media selection for dissemination, identification of socially impactful research, creation of content based on scientific data, and dissemination strategies. With the support of GCCRC's communication area, the project aims to transcend academic boundaries, making a significant contribution to scientific outreach and public engagement.
