Abstract

Understanding listening is of practical importance in the professional exercise of psychology and raises methodological and epistemological problems. The rigor of the conceptual transposition from philosophy to psychology is varied and elaborated with varying degrees of theoretical eclecticism, which is subject to severe criticism, sparking a debate about the relationship between phenomenology and clinical practice. This research has a twofold objective related to suspensive listening: 1. to present and systematize it in its historical and conceptual breadth articulated with classical phenomenology, analytically elucidating the phenomenon of listening in the normativity that characterizes it as suspensive; 2. to expose the normative and conceptual articulation of suspensive listening within the framework of Body Practices for the Community Promotion of Mental Health (PCPCSM). Methodologically, the aim is to undertake a practical phenomenology, eschewing the hermeneutics prevalent in the literature. By proposing a close discussion with European reference centers and some of the main authors of contemporary phenomenological research, the research takes up content produced in recent years to develop it in cohesion, articulating and refining it to present the theoretical and operative framework that through suspensive listening, has acted reciprocally in the research methodology and clinical articulations of phenomenological psychology.
