Strengthening Agroecology and Organic Production in the State of São Paulo through Territorial Governance

Abstract

The project to which this scholarship request is linked aims to contribute to the implementation of the State Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production (PEAPO) and the State Plan on Agroecology and Organic Production (PLEAPO) of the state of São Paulo, incorporating social participation and territorial perspective into its structures and implementation processes. The post-doctoral fellow will play a significant role in the three distinct phases of the project over its 4-year duration. In the first phase (1st year), the fellow will conduct documentary and bibliographic research on public policies regarding agroecology and organic production, as well as conduct semi-structured interviews and focus groups. They will also contribute to proposing territorial governance structures and participatory methodologies for policy implementation in the territories. In the second phase (2nd year), the fellow will contribute to defining monitoring and evaluation indicators for the policy, conduct focus groups and workshops, and collaborate on theoretical and statistical analyses of the results obtained in the pilot experience. In the third phase (3rd and 4th year), the fellow will contribute to replicating territorial governance structures in new territories, conduct workshops and focus groups, and contribute to theoretical and statistical analyses of the results of policy implementation in the new territories, thus effectively participating in the development of relevant scientific products.
