Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a global health problem, with an increase in prevalence in recent years, affecting 18% of Brazilian pregnant women. Hyperglycemia is the main condition present in all types of diabetes. During pregnancy, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) occurs, a condition similar to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2), and represents a high risk of developing DM2 after pregnancy. Furthermore, it is associated with complications during pregnancy itself, such as prematurity and macrosomia. It is essential for pregnant women with diabetes to have access to adequate prenatal care, with control and adequate habits. The objective of this study is to evaluate the knowledge, practices and attitudes of pregnant women with diabetes accompanied in a specialized outpatient clinic. Methods: It will be a prospective study carried out pre-natally at the Unicamp Women's Hospital, Brazil, from April 2024 to February 2025. Pregnant women with diabetes will be invited to participate after obtaining a free consent form. A questionnaire of 30 quests will be applied by a trained researcher. The responses will be stored, in a de-identified manner, on the RedCap pro-life platform of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, with access allowed only to researchers directly involved in the study. An estimated sample size of 175 women will be included. The results will be described as average and standard deviation for the numerical and frequency variables and percentage for the categorical variables.
