Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the issue of temporal representation in Wittgenstein's Philosophische Bemerkungen, focusing on chapters V and VII, and directly examining the manuscripts from 1929-30. We start from the hypothesis that the inherent nature of temporal representation, which introduces the hypothetical element of the future into phenomenological time, is what underlies Wittgenstein's abandonment of the phenomenological language. We believe that attempting to verify this hypothesis can contribute to clarifying Wittgenstein's philosophical connections with the problem of time and aiding in a better understanding of the causes behind the philosophical division between the first and the second Wittgenstein.
