Abstract

Chronic orofacial pain is often underestimated and imposes a significant burden on patients, affecting not only their quality of life but also challenging healthcare providers in the search for effective solutions. Pain education can play an important role in the treatment of chronic pain, providing a deeper understanding not only for healthcare providers but also for the patients themselves. On the other hand, lack of awareness regarding the nature of pain often leads to inappropriate treatments and frustrations. Thus, our project arises from the need to deepen the understanding and dissemination of the central mechanisms of chronic orofacial pain. By understanding the mechanisms of orofacial pain, we can tailor therapeutic approaches and provide educational support to patients, considering that lack of awareness and scientific dissemination about the nature of pain often leads to insufficient care. By adopting an accessible approach and language, we seek to fill this educational gap. We will present complex concepts clearly, emphasizing the importance of central mechanisms and multidisciplinary strategies in the treatment of chronic orofacial pain through podcasts. By integrating insights from researchers, healthcare providers, and patient stories, our podcast aims to create an engaging educational narrative. This approach not only conveys scientific data in a simple manner but also promotes empathy and understanding, essential for breaking stigmas associated with chronic orofacial pain and fostering more effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. Finally, through educational and outreach tools, our project aims not only to disseminate scientific information of credibility but also to empower both patients and professionals on their journey towards more effective care of chronic orofacial pain.
