Abstract

NMR is a powerful technique for various investigations, such as structural analyses, quantification, and molecular dynamics of organic compounds. DOSY experiments have been applied in several areas of science, ranging from the identification to the quantification of compounds in a mixture based on diffusion coefficient measurements without the need to physically separate the compounds. Enantiodiscrimination is important in several fields and DOSY NMR is an alternative for understanding the mechanisms involved in analysing enantiomers. Given this context, the aim of this proposal consists of: i) development of diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) pulse sequences for specialized diffusion probes; ii) calibrate for gradient uniformity to obtain accurate diffusion measurements, iii) expand the applicability of GNAT (General NMR Analysis Toolbox) processing with diffusion measurements on diffusion probes, and iv) perform accurate diffusion measurements on these probes to assess enantiodiscrimination in chiral gels; It is hoped that this proposal will contribute to the advancement of the application of DOSY for enantiodiscrimination by using high gradient diffusion probes in order to probe small difference in diffusion values for large particles like micelles.
