Abstract

With the growing relevance of the knowledge economy, urban areas where knowledge is produced and developed are becoming even more important in leading cities throughout the world. They are now the subject of urban studies on how to make themmore attractive and efficient in order to reach their main goal of promoting innovation, which is directly linked to urban vitality. This work used a systematic mapping of the literature to systematize indicators and tools related to urban vitality, organizing them in the form of a table. These parameters can be used in parametric modeling and in the simulation of different urban scenarios, in order to support the planning of vibrant innovation territories. Thus, this stage of research abroad aims to explore the potential of integrating these indicators into City Information Models (CIM), one of the research focuses of the TUE group. We plan to develop an analytical system that can quantify and interpret urban vitality, transforming often subjective aspects into measurable and shareable data for project decision-making. The case study of the Moulon knowledge district in Paris Saclay, recognized for its high level of urban vitality, will be compared to a similar project under development located in Campinas, the International Hub for Sustainable Development (HIDS). Based on this comparison, adjustments will be proposed to improve the urban performance of the new district.
