Transforming Healthcare with the use of AI: demystifying the use of the technology by showing its potential application for improving spinal cord transplants

Abstract

The effective communication of science is of extreme importance for the development ofsociety. To achieve this, it is necessary to translate complex scientific concepts into a moreuniversal and accessible language for everyone. In this project, the use of artificial intelligence(AI) is addressed as an example of controversial technology, with various concerns hoveringover its use, ranging from the impact on jobs to the dissemination of unverified information.However, despite these concerns, the incorporation of technology should be guided by rulesand regulations, with a focus on the potential benefits for the healthcare sector, as supportedby the World Health Organization. To make the benefits more evident to the public, we havechosen a project theme that showcases applications of AI models in healthcare. In this study,one of the objectives is to use AI to identify specific regulatory patterns of hematopoietic stemcells, which can contribute to overcoming existing challenges in bone marrow transplants.Through this, we hope to demystify the use of this technology that is so prevalent in today'sworld.
