Abstract

Impedance spectroscopy (IS) is crucial in material science, providing insights into electrical properties for advancements in batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, and sensors. In electrochemical devices, IS reveals real-time dynamic behavior but faces challenges due to sensitivity to experimental conditions, necessitating careful interpretation. The significance of IS in nano-electronic devices emphasizes the critical role of equivalent circuit representations in modeling complex behaviors. However, misunderstanding underlying electrochemical processes or improper model selection can lead to inaccuracies. This research project focuses on transient effects in IS, exploring their impact on impedance spectra and evaluating the robustness of measurement protocols. By assessing existing guidelines and aiming to contribute more precise recommendations, the study aims to advance understanding and refine measurement protocols, ultimately enhancing the accuracy and reliability of impedance spectroscopy outcomes. The student joining this project will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, develop interdisciplinary skills, and gain insights into the complexities of impedance spectroscopy in diverse systems.
