Abstract

Introduction: Tympanometry is an exam that evaluates the function of the middle ear, specifically the mobility of the tympanic membrane and middle ear pressure. It is considered a quick and easy-to-apply test and is favorable in neonatal hearing screening programs. Early identification of hearing loss in newborns must be valued to protect the child's integral development. Objective: To identify the transmission of sound stimuli through tympanometry examination in children born preterm in the first year of life followed at the Universo Prematuro® Care Center. Methods: The study will be analytical, observational and cross-sectional, with a convenience sample. Children born prematurely between three months and one year of corrected age, of both sexes, will be evaluated. The evaluation will include inspection of the external auditory canal using otoscope equipment brand For statistical analysis, parametric data will be analyzed using the Student's T test and Analysis of Variance A - NOVA. For analysis of non-parametric data, the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test will be used, considering statistical significance values of pd0.05.
