Abstract

This Scientific Initiation (SI) research proposal derives from our work as a technical fellowship in modal TT1 (FAPESP 2022/05271-1) together with the project: "Pride readers, ashamed readers: emotions in discourses about reading (FAPESP 2020/03615-0). As a technical fellowship, we participated in the collective survey of data and we their classification into 5 categories of enunciated, according to the type of emotions materialized: 1) Pride reader of yourself, 2) Pride reader of others, 3) Ashamed reader of yourself, 4) Ashamed reader of others and 5) reader whose revealed shame rather indicates the pride of his reading condition. In this SI, we will dedicate to the analysis of enunciates in this 5th category that although they seem to refer to something that one should be ashamed of when talking about yourself as a reader, the effect of meaning produced is precisely that of the pride expression in relation to one's reading condition, because this 'confession' demonstrates the affiliation of this subject to the validated discourses and representations of what it means to be a reader. When somebody enunciating the shame related to what was read, to the way in which it was read, or to what has not yet been read, these enunciators legitimize and reiterate discourses that establish what are the 'pride' practices. Based on the corpus collected with the texts of the newspapers 'Folha de S. Paulo' and 'O Estado de S. Paulo', in 2010 to 2022. We will carry out this analysis based on some principles Michel Foucault Discourse Analysis, of the Cultural History of reading, according to Roger Chartier, the Cultural Distinction Sociology, according to Pierre Bourdieu, and in the Emotions and Sensibilities History, as treated by Jean-Jacques Courtine.
