Abstract

Beach Tennis in Brazil has been growing exponentially in recent years, both as a recreational and professional practice. The country's geographical and climatic aspects contribute to the widespread popularity of the sport, which, coupled with its potential for fun, socialization, and health maintenance, promotes an increasingly broader presence in everyday life. However, literary searches reveal that scientific research addressing the physiological effects of Beach Tennis practice is still scarce, a fact that limits support related to understanding energy demands during exercise, compromising the prescription and safe and well-known load progression. Another issue arising from the lack of knowledge pertains to a higher predisposition to injury incidence. Therefore, this research project aims to evaluate the intensity characteristics of a Beach Tennis match and the functional recovery behavior in high-level male athletes. The assessment tools will consist of blood collection, performance testing, questionnaires, and scales. Data will be collected before and after the match, so that the following variables will be investigated: lactate; creatine kinase; heart rate; perceived exertion; performance test (counter movement jump and vertical jump height); parameters of height, body mass, and body fat; ambient temperature and relative humidity; and overall recovery quality. After conducting the sample calculation, a minimum of 14 participants was deemed necessary. Mean, standard deviation, and effect size values will be calculated for all variables. Statistical significance will be considered for values p<0.05.
