Un navire dans l'espace: commented translation of nine poems by Ana Cristina Cesar

Abstract

The present Scientific Initiation project intends to propose an analysis of the translation process in the work of the poet, translator and literary critic from Rio de Janeiro, Ana Cristina César, based on her texts gathered in Crítica e Tradução (1999), - and in dialogue with other key thinkers on translation, in particular Mário Laranjeira (2003) and Haroldo de Campos (2015). After raising some of the theoretical-critical pillars on translation, will be proposed nine translations of the author's poems into French, followed by comments reflecting on the choices made and the challenges faced, always seeking to articulate the translation practice with the author's thoughts. In addition, I will propose a record of the progress of the research in the format of a photo journal (GREIG, 2023), a genre that dialogues directly with two important elements in Ana Cristina's poetic work, the diary and the photography (PENHA, 2007).
