With the advent of second-generation quantum technologies, the search for systems capable of manipulating quantum information has intensified. In this sense, in the present project we will work with a system composed by atoms of three or more levels, trapped inside one (or two) optical cavities, with the aim of investigating the construction of quantum logical operations, Fock state filters, in special single photon sources, and non-linear interactions. In other words, we will investigate how to build fundamental operations for the processing, transmission and storage of quantum information using a cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity QED) system.
