Abstract

This project aims to measure experimentally, to perform consistency and thermodynamic modeling of the phase behavior of the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the water + 1-butanol + deep eutectic solvent (DES) systems, at 101,3 kPa. The process will be carried out in an experimental equipment (modified Othmer ebulliometer, thermostatic bath, temperature and pressure sensors, vacuum pump and digital manometer), where the ebulliometer has an adaptation to allow the condensate droplets to be counted. Initially, calibration curves (refractive index and density) will be obtained depending on the composition. Next, the compositions of the liquid and vapor phases, at equilibrium, will be determined using calibration curves, and then they will be subjected to the consistency testing using the Wisniack method. The experimental data, considered thermodynamically consistent, will be used in the thermodynamic modeling (approach g-f). The activity coefficient, g, will be obtained from the UNIQUAC (UNIversal QUAse Chemical) model and the fugacity coefficient, f, will be set at 1,0 (P = 101,3 kPa). Results, in terms of the deviations of temperature and compositions in the vapor phase (Bubble T), will be represented in phase diagrams. Finally, the efficiency of the DES, as an "entrainer", will be compared with the efficiency of experimental results, obtained in previous research, with ionic liquids.
