Abstract

The objective is to identify and understand, through experience reports, how martial arts and combat sports (MA&CS) teachers perceive casual changes in their students caused by disruptive situations experienced in combat practices. This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive work that extends from a PUB project of Scientific Initiation - term: Sep/2022 to Aug/2023, situated in the framework of the larger project "For a theory of body combat: towards a psychology of Martial Arts and Combat Sports" (FAPESP, 2019/1157-6). In the course of the larger project, 131 interviews were produced with practitioners of 8 modalities of MA&CS in the 5 Brazilian regions, executed under suspensive listening - a method of subtracting judgments to access the phenomenon. Thus, to organize and facilitate the treatment of the material and methodological application, the work was developed in a collaborative format, with transcription and analysis agendas organized among 5 members of the Research Group whose work originates from the aforementioned project, use the same methodology and have complementary objectives within the framework of the larger project. The transcription updates the positioning of suspensive listening, leading the researcher to familiarize himself/herself with its operations. For the analysis, we proceed with the psychological reduction and intentional crossing, using the different reports as variations of the experiences to proceed with the groupings of meaning in order to collect their intentional characteristics.
