Abstract

Coastal regions, of complex dynamics, are areas of great fragility and vulnerability due to prevailing natural processes and intense human use and occupation. River systems, in turn, play an essential role in spatial organization, both in relation to natural processes and anthropic processes, in different spatial and temporal scales. In this context, it is necessary to understand the formation and transformation of the landscape, for this, the present project aims to understand the dynamics of the main channel of the Trancoso River Basin (BA) in the present time scale, diagnosing changes in the geometry of the main channel for each circular sample along the river channel, through morphometric analysis. Surface covers in the coastal landscape will also be investigated, thus resuming discussions on the genesis and evolution of marine and fluviomarine terraces, through spatial and geochronological analysis, correlated with possible Holocene climate pulsations. To investigate such transformations, the use of the systemic method is proposed, in order to correlate socioeconomic factors with geomorphological and environmental variables. Regarding the diagnosis of the ages of the surfaces, the method of Optically Stimulated Luminescence (LOE) and dating by 210Pb will be used. The use and occupation of the land will be analyzed, based on the research and list of the main natural and socioeconomic agents, using the State-Pressure-Response methodology to identify the transformations in the river channel resulting from the natural/anthropic dynamics.
