Abstract

This project aims to continue the ongoing work on brain connectivity changes related to the use of new technologies for motor rehabilitation of stroke survivors. Changes in functional connectivity obtained through electroencephalography (EEG) exams have been associated with stroke and the recovery of functionalities affected by it, indicating that this type of analysis can be used for monitoring, evaluation and prognosis during rehabilitation. In addition to standard motor rehabilitation procedures, new technologies such as the use of virtual reality during exercise and modulation of brain signals can speed up and improve the recovery process. However, the clinical efficacy and physiological modifications resulting from these procedures are still topics of study within the scientific community. In this project, we want to investigate the neurophysiological changes during motor rehabilitation of stroke patients with the use of transcranial direct current stimulation, evaluate the use of neuromodulation as an enhancer of the effects of rehabilitation and, finally, evaluate the use of brain functional connectivity in the evaluation and prognosis of this population.
