Abstract

We propose to study the holographic duality using a different approach to gravity. In a series of papers G. Dvali and C. Gomez propose that black holes are a Bose-Einstein condensate of soft gravitons and, as a consequence, are able to explain apparent paradoxes previously not understood from a semi-classical approach. A generalization of their idea is to study spaces with a non-vanishing cosmological constant, in which case they were able to show that even vacuum space-times have interesting properties under the assumption. Of particular interest are the AdS space-time and black holes in the AdS background. These objects are very relevant to the holographic duality and exhibit interesting properties when studied under the quantum-$N$ picture, in particular, the equivalence between occupation number of gravitons and central charge of conformal field theory as computed according to AdS/CFT prescription. It is speculated that holography as we understand might be an effective manifestation of a more general description, such as the one proposed by the quantum-N portrait of black holes. (AU)
