Abstract

Many research findings in small animal reproduction during the past 20 years can be credited entirely to ultrasound and several studies have been conducted in canine andrology. The literature has become voluminous, however, lack of standardization of the sonographic protocol, as well as overall different methodologies applied in different studies hinders the understanding of the actual benefits of this imaging technique in a clinical setting. In feline andrology, little information is available regarding the correlation of advanced ultrasound techniques to seminal quality and reproductive aptitude. Therefore, the aim of this proposal is to validate the sonographic protocol that has been under investigation by the beneficiary and his advisor in a canine andrology practice and investigate the correlation of sonographic findings of the feline testes with seminal quality. Additionally, the beneficiary will simultaneously perform an Externship in Animal Reproduction for an immersive experience and to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field by participating in the Reproduction Service of the Veterinary Hospital of the institution, as well as assisting in research studies being performed in the supervisor's Department.
