Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) genetic resources present in Brazil have a high potential for the development of cultivars tolerant to heat stress. The germplasm maintained at the Vegetable Improvement Laboratory (LMH) of the "Luiz de Queiroz" School of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (Esalq/USP) is diverse and has 384 accessions, consisting of advanced clones and national and international commercial varieties. This way, it is providing an important phenotypic and genetic diversity for the development of superior varieties for the tropical conditions of Brazil. In order to identify how this germplasm is genetically structured and to evaluate the present genetic diversity, this work seeks to characterize the germplasm using genetic-genomic approaches through genetic markers obtained by the SNP array methodology. Thus, the work that will be developed is characterized as an unprecedented research in the national territory, which seeks to bring important discoveries about the population structure and genetic diversity available in the accessions maintained in Brazil.
