Abstract

Sample preparation, prior to chromatographic analyses, has the main objective of cleaning the extract and improving the performance of the analytical method, mainly with regard to detection and quantification parameters. In this sense, research has shown advances in extraction microtechniques, offline (SBSE, MEPS, SPME) and automated (in-tube SPME, SPE-online) with the aim of minimizing the amount of sample, extraction phase and organic solvents employed compared to conventional methods. However, the affinity of the sorbent used in the extraction device, for a given (or class of) analytes, will result in the elimination of the greatest possible amount of interfering elements, highlighting the compounds of interest. Graphene oxide has been extensively investigated in recent years in the field of sample preparation, due to the unique properties of its structure, which include a large surface area and the presence of delocalized À electrons. In addition, the ease of functionalization with other materials, such as ionic liquids (ILs) - known for their unique characteristics - results in a selective extractor phase and with multiple sorption mechanisms. The present work seeks to explore the synthesis, characterization and anchoring of different ILs to graphene oxide. The materials produced will later be used as sorbents in the extraction of pesticides from the carbamates and triazines class, in samples of food and environmental origin, using modern extraction microtechniques.
