Abstract

SUMMARYWild boars are considered an exotic and invasive species in Brazil and, in addition, are reservoirs of pathogens that affect animal and human health. Porcine circovirus type 2 is a virus that affects domestic pigs and wild boar and is important because it is associated with several diseases. There is still no definition of an epidemiological profile of diseases or mapping of systemic lesions in this species in the northwest region of the State of São Paulo, which is more serious in relation to the bioinvasion of these animals. The present work aims to evaluate macroscopic and histopathological alterations and the detection of porcine circovirus type-2 (CVS-2) in lungs and lymph nodes of free-ranging wild boars in the northwest region of the State of São Paulo.
