Critical historical pedagogy: contributions to the formation of adolescents and youths in conflict with the law in the municipalities of São Paulo and Paris

Abstract

The project aims to identify and analyze the conceptions and pedagogical practices developed by educators with adolescents in juvenile detention at the CASA Foundation and at the Centre Éducatif Fermé - CEF, having as research locus the municipalities of São Paulo and Paris. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the research is guided by the logic of dialectical materialism in the scientific process, making use of the following instruments and procedures in data collection: I. conducting in-depth interviews with educators (pedagogues, technicians, and socioeducational agents) and teachers from the CASA Foundation (São Luiz I and II units) and from the Centre Éducatif Fermé, focusing on the detention measure located in the territories of greatest juvenile violence and vulnerability, south of São Paulo and north of Paris (17eme arrondissement); II. conducting in-depth interviews with ten adolescents about education at the CASA Foundation and at the Centre Éducatif Fermé; III. observations of the educators' educational practices with up to eighty male adolescents, aged between twelve and eighteen incomplete years, seeking to identify and analyze the adherence and resistance of young people to the proposals of institutional education (in the relationship between school and non-school); IV. analyze the pedagogical work of French educators with that of Brazilian educators; V. to develop pedagogical subsidies from the analyzed educational practices, using the theoretical instruments of Dermeval Saviani's Critical Historical Pedagogy; VI. and, during the research, we will make practical and theoretical pedagogical proposals for institutional education in the deprivation of freedom, in addition to training activities between UNICAMP and the CASA Foundation. The supervision of the project in France will be carried out by Prof. Dr. Jacques de Maillard, member of the Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin and Sciences Po Saint Germain in Laye, and current director of the Centre de Recherche Sociologiques sur le Droit et les Institutions Pénales (CESDIP, CNRS, UMR 8183).
