Abstract

About 50% of the waste produced in Brazil is organic waste, from fruit and vegetable peels, vegetables, spoiled food, human activity, among others. Part of this biomass from agro-food residues is currently reused, but generally in low value-added applications, such as composting, biodigestion and bovine feeding processes. This can be considered an underutilization, since the versatility of these residues allows their reuse for the production of medicines, advanced materials, with potential application in biomedical devices, sensors, actuators and energy conversion and storage devices. The residues of agricultural and rural activities, in general, are bark, straw, roots, stems, seeds, pods, cobs, etc. Peanut, Arachis hypogea, is among one of the great productions that generate residues in Brazilian agriculture. Its production generates residues of husks, leaves and roots, since the important part to be commercialized of the peanut is its seed. The vegetable is rich in proteins and vitamins, also having flavonoid compounds, responsible for the antioxidant action, and polyphenolic compounds of the stilbene type, which acts to protect the plant against fungi and bacteria. Such compounds are of great importance to the pharmaceutical industry, and it is important to search for sustainable technologies for the extraction and obtaining of these compounds, using, preferably, the waste generated by agriculture, since this becomes more economically viable and can be more easily made available to the public at a later date. The objective of this work is to develop ecological approaches for extracting compounds from agro-industrial residues present in the production of peanuts and derivatives in Brazil. The experimental procedures will consist in the extraction of resveratrol and piceatannol from peanut residues using Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents, called NADES, and the analysis by HPLC, in order to obtain a considerable amount of the compound.
