Abstract

Currently, the development of biomaterials into Regenerative Dentistry has been into the spotlight, being studied in association with tissue engineering concepts. Novel technologies have been developed to aid dentin regeneration, by creating from novel biomaterials a favorable environment for dental pulp cells proliferate and differentiate, leading to pulp-dentin complex regeneration. This research project has the aim to develop macro-porous chitosan calcium hydroxide scaffolds, functionalized with magnesium oxide for dentin regeneration. Morphological (SEM/DES) and biological characterization will be performed with dental pulp cells seeded in direct contact with materials. The following analyses will be performed: cell viability (Live/Dead), cell metabolism (Alamar Blue), and mineralized matrix deposition (Alizarin Red). Numerical data will be subjected to statistical analysis.
