Basic magnesium sulfate cement (BMSC) is an non-conventional binder, produced by the reaction of magnesium oxide, a magnesium sulfate solution and chemical additives; it presents advantages of fire resistance, lightness, low alkalinity, and low energy consumption, being the production of lightweight panels its main application. However, limited research reports the incorporation of cellulosic fibers and the effect of carbonation on the properties and durability of BMSC cement-based composites. Moreover, this type of cementitious material has great potential for application in additive manufacturing due to its rheology and does not require a water curing process. In this context, this research aims to develop and evaluate BMSC cement-based composites from commercial materials, chemical additives, mineral additions and incorporating cellulosic fibers as reinforcement elements for engineering applications, such as the production of lightweight panels and cementitious material for 3D printing. The research will be developed in four different blocks. The first three blocks will focus on developing and evaluating fiber-reinforced BMSC-based cementitious composites. Block 4, is composed of two stages, aiming to develop and improve the BMSC for 3D printing. Thus, the development of this research will determine the ability to apply the BMSC cement in construction materials and as a cementitious material for additive manufacturing. (AU)
