Parameters for modeling the redesign of ruminant production landscapes using multifunctional forage crops.

Abstract

Redesigns of productive landscapes are designed to adopt environmentally friendly farming practices, to contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and to maintain culturally important landscapes and farming and livestock practices. Assuming that modeling can be a relevant tool to address such systemic changes, we will seek to answer the following question: "How can livestock systems be modeled to help farmers redesign their ruminant livestock systems? Thus, the objective of this work is to create a modeling framework to guide the redesign of productive landscapes for ruminants under tropical conditions. The activities to be developed will be divided into 4 stages: a) a literature search on existing indicators and/or models for ruminant livestock; b) active participation in phases 3 and 4 of the project "Redesign of ruminant production systems using multifunctional forages" (FAPESP n. 2020/16076-0); c) participation in a workshop for alignment and leveling of the concepts of redesign of productive landscapes, d) indication of parameters for modeling the redesign of ruminant production landscapes using multifunctional forages. Thus, the hypothesis of this work is that it is possible that the redesign of multifunctional productive landscapes can be oriented from modeling obtained from experimental variables already existing and/or under construction, as well as from the literature already published.
