Abstract

The present project aims to evaluate the performance of polymeric resins, previously synthesized in the current FAPESP project 2020/08631-3, in the glycerol ketalization reaction, that will be carried out in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto (FEUP). The solketal production yield will be evaluated using the polymeric resins of aforeimentioned project and their reached results will be compared with commercial line resins such, for instance, Amberlyst. Analysis such as ion exchange capacity, swelling index and catalytic efficiency will be carried out in order to characterize the catalyst and ascertain their influence on the reaction in question. New resin formulations would can be performed at the foreign faculty, based on reached results. It is expected to achieve satisfactory results for solketal production and a formulation of resin that can be to integrate favorable features for glycerol ketalization reaction. (AU)
