Abstract

In this project, I describe strongly correlated quantum many-body systems that I intend to investigate. Specifically, I focus on systems that obey Fermi-Dirac statistics, while not disregarding those that satisfy Bose-Einstein statistics. These systems are highly interesting as they exhibit emergent phenomena. One possible area of focus will be on systems composed of ultracold gases, as the strength of interactions between particles can be tuned using Feshbach resonances, enabling the investigation of the system across a range of coupling strengths, from strong to intermediate and weak. The realization of this project will offer an opportunity to establish collaboration with Dr. Jordi Boronat from the Universitat Politènica de Catalunya. In addition to the scientific gains resulting from a deepened understanding of the physics of these systems, it may create better conditions for graduate students to pursue research internships abroad during their studies, as well as facilitate postdoctoral positions at an institution that boasts a vibrant research program.
